The Plan Sponsor University (TPSU) is inviting Fiduciaries and Trustees of 401(k) Plans and those working on their organization’s 403(b) or Defined Benefit Plans to take advantage of a half-day education Program being held at the University of Memphis, FedEx Institute of Technology on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, from 8:00AM to 2:00PM. The program is being delivered at University of Memphis -FedEx Institute of Technology, Fishbowl (Room 203/205), 365 Innovation Dr., Memphis, TN 38152.
This TPSU Program has been approved for 5 hours of Continuing Education Credit with human resources associations and a national accounting organization.
Your TPSU Adjunct Lecturer – Walter Grant, C(k)P, Certified 401(k) Professional
Mr. Walter Grant obtained his B.A. in Accounting from University of Mississippi. Upon graduation he spent over a decade at MetLife/ New England Financial. Walter’s industry experience of approximately 20 years focuses on plan optimization and the utilization of behavioral finance tools to increase participant enrollment and individual contributions to the plans. He interacts closely with plan sponsors to help them manage and monitor their company plans as well as minimizing fiduciary liability and exposure. He deals extensively with corporate 401(k) plans as well as executive compensation and individualized planning. Walter has received a number of accolades, including Lifetime Leaders, Chairman’s Council twice, and he has achieved Master’s level five times. Walter has also been the recipient of the 5 Star Award. While pursuing his B.A. from University of Mississippi, Walter was also the kicker for the Ole Miss Rebels.
Walter has spent a significant amount of time helping retirement plan trustees, plan fiduciaries and plan participants. He has provided consulting services in all areas of plan management and oversight, including plan design, fees and services benchmarking, investment management selection and monitoring, investment policy, and financial education.
Walter holds the C(k)P Designation from The Retirement Advisor University, a collaboration with UCLA Anderson School of Management Executive Education.
The core curriculum being addressed during the day will include the topics of Behavioral Finance, Understanding Retirement Readiness and Measuring the Impact of Outcomes for a Company Retirement Plan.
The U.S. Department of Labor encourages company retirement plan fiduciaries to be proactive in their pursuit of Fiduciary Training and Education so fiduciaries are positioned to be good stewards of qualified retirement plans, including 401(k) Plans.
