Life Expectancy for Americans comes up in the losing column, in a recent report coming out of The Canters for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC has published data which highlights a widening economic gap and inequality. This is compounded by the pandemic and political storm and stress. Could American workers be closer to “having enough to retire? By viewing the data – it is plain to see Americans are no longer be living as long as they once did.
Now we have the data that indicates Americans’ Life Expectancies have been falling!
As reported, last year that life expectancy at birth fell in 2021. America’s Life Expectancy is at the lowest level since 1996. Unfortunately this was after a decline by 1.8 years – during the time-period 2019 to 2020., (This is resulting in the worst two-year decline since 1921-23!)
This could lead to American workers being closer to “having enough money to retire” Although unfortunately, however, having a shorter life expectancy is not exactly how a plan sponsor wants to arrive at a “having enough money to retire.”
