Target Date Funds

Professionally managed investments based on an investor’s age; asset allocation funds based on a person’s age; commonly used as a qdia (qualified default investment alternative) in 401k and 403b plans. Generally in the form of a mutual fund but could be a collective trust. Fidelity, Vanguard, T Rowe Price and Blackrock are dominant TDF providers. Target risk funds are based on the risk tolerance of the investor and are less popular in 401k and 403b plans.
